If you think your child/children may be entitled to Free School Meals please use the Eligibility Checker here: https://pps.lgfl.org.uk/. Please submit one application for each child at Pinner High School. The system gives an immediate “yes” or “no” response and if you are eligible, you can download a Certificate of Eligibility to show the school so we can update our records.
If you need any help with your application, or have any questions about Free School Meals, please contact the School Office on 0203 096 0769 or the School Finance Office at finance@pinnerhighschool.org
Update from September 2026 – changes to Free School Meals eligibility
From 1 September 2026, the government is expanding free school meal eligibility to include all children from households in receipt of Universal Credit, removing the previous £7,400 household earnings cap.
Because of this change, there will now be two distinct categories of Free School Meal eligibility:
- Targeted FSM: For families on Universal Credit with annual net earnings of £7,400 or less (or those on other qualifying legacy benefits). These students receive free daily meals, and the school receives vital extra funding called Pupil Premium to support their learning.
- Expanded FSM (New): For families on Universal Credit with annual net earnings above £7,400. These students will receive free school meals only.
Please note that national “transitional protections” are ending at the close of this school year. Even if your child currently gets free school meals under older rules, all families must submit a new application to ensure they meet the updated September 2026 criteria.
Please apply now so we can update our systems in time for September.
Benefits for children entitled to Targeted and Expanded FSM:
- £2.61 to spend on food at school every day, at break or lunch
- Supermarket vouchers towards the cost of food during school holidays
Additional benefits for children entitled to Targeted FSM:
- School subsidies towards the cost of educational visits and activities.
- £25 clothing grant each academic year.
Benefits for Pinner High School:
The school receives additional funding for FSM-eligible students, allowing us to invest in additional equipment, resources and activities to the benefit of all students.
