Our journey so far

 

It has been an exciting journey to get to this point. We are enormously grateful to the Harrow high schools for proposing Pinner High, and to the community for supporting us even before the DfE approved our application.

Key dates and events on our development have been:

  • March / April 2014: The first public engagement about Pinner High School to gauge support for the application – almost 400 responses, including over 300 who said that they would name Pinner High School as their first choice and almost all the rest who said that they would welcome further information
  • May 2014: Application submitted to Department for Education (with an interview at the end of July)
  • September 2014: Application approved by Department for Education and announces purchase of the Beaulieu Drive site for Pinner High School
  • November 2014: Nearly 200 people attend an open meeting about Pinner High School and share their vision for the school (documents available below)
  • December 2014: 26 people apply to become Community Governors and six are appointed
  • June 2015: Mr Chris Woolf is appointed as Founding Headteacher
  • June / July 2015: Statutory Consultation (Academies Act) about whether Pinner High School should be established – 95% of responses said that Pinner High should open in September 2016, rising to 100% of responses from people who have children due to start high school in September 2016 or 2017
  • June 2015: Nearly 200 people attend our second open meeting and hear Mr Woolf’s vision for Pinner High 
  • September/October 2015: 1,200 people attend our open events
  • November 2015: 639 applications are received from families naming Pinner HIgh School for September 2016
  • January 2016: Chris Woolf takes up the post as Headteacher
  • March 2016: 300 people apply for 10 teaching posts. Pinner High School is fully staffed with teachers
  • March 2016: 172 offers are made by Harrow Council to families for Pinner High School for September 2016
  • May 2016: Department for Education 'Readiness for Opening' meeting confirms approval for September
  • June 2016: Ofsted Pre-opening Inspection
  • June 2016: First student Induction Day at Pinner High School
  • August 2016: Refurbishment of Pinner High School and new Design Technology facility completed
  • September 2016: Pinner High School opens!
  • November 2016: Extremely positive feedback from Harrow Academies Trust Inspection
  • November 2016: Extremely positive feedback from Department for Education Inspection. 790 families name Pinner HIgh School for September 2017
  • December 2016: First End of Term concert (including an excerpt from 'Make Believe' by AA Milne, the first performance on the stage from 1939)
  • January 2017: School roll increases further with more students joining Pinner High School
  • February 2017: First International school trip, skiing in Austria with Nower Hill High School. The 2018 trip fills up immediately
  • March 2017: 180 offers made by Harrow Council to families  for September 2017
  • May 2017: Head's Challenge Club Leaders receive Certificate of Excellence Award in 'Outstanding School Team of the Year' category of Pearson Teaching Awards
  • June 2017: The first event run for the second time: New staff induction for colleagues starting in September. Already fully staffed with teachers for the next academic year
  • June 2017: Further excellent feedback from the third term Department for Education Inspection report
  • July 2017: Investors in People Health and Wellbeing Award and EQ Equalities Award presented to Pinner High School
  • July 2017: Parents, Staff and Students rate the school 'Outstanding' in all areas.
  • July 2017: Bannister House win are the awarded the Pinner Old Students Association Cup for winning the House Competition
  • September 2017: The school has two year groups, Year 7 and Year 8
  • October 2017: Pinner High School is featured in 'The Parliamentary Review 2017' showcasing best educational practice nationwide
  • October 2017: Over 1,200 families attend open evening
  • November 2017: 915 families name Pinner High School for 2018 entry.
  • January 2018: Maths and Science departments receive the prestigious Prince's Teaching Institute Mark
  • January 2018: Plans start for the final phase of refurbishment as we prepare to take possession of the whole school building
  • March 2018: 180 offers made by Harrow Council to families for September 2018. The waiting list is over 100
  • April 2018: Pinner High School has sole occupancy of the site, as Avanti House move to their permanent home in Stanmore
  • July 2018: Basketball courts are relaid, and new hoops are installed
  • July 2018: Malala House win the House competition and are awarded the Pinner Old Students Association Cup
  • September 2018: Our third year starts
  • October 2018: Silver Artsmark is awarded
  • November 2018: 964 families name Pinner High School for 2019 entry
  • February 2019: The House of Lords Grand Committee debate free schools. Pinner High is named as a "credit to all who work there"
  • March 2019: 180 offers made by Harrow Council to families for September 2019. The waiting list is 150, last distance offered is less than a mile
  • April 2019: First trip to Beijing, China
  • May 2019: School is names as a 'Stonewall School Champion' celebrating our commitment to equalities
  • May 2019: Ofsted rate the school 'Outstanding' in all areas
  • July 2019: First World Challenge trip to Costa Rica
  • September 2019: The school roll passes 700, as students reach Year 10
  • October 2019: 1,170 families name Pinner High School for 2020 entry
  • February 2020: The much anticipated refurbishment programme begins; a £17 million pound project that will provide first class facilities across the school
  • March 2020: 180 offers made by Harrow Council to families for September 2020. The waiting list is over 250, last distance offered 0.7 mile. It is the most oversubscribed school in Harrow.
  • July 2020: Four Awards arrive at the end of a complicated school year; 2 Pearson Teaching Award Certificates of Excellence, the Silver Eco Schools Award and the Investors in People Health and Wellbeing Gold Award.
  • September 2020: The school roll reaches 900 students and 150 members of staff
  • September 2020: The school is shortlisted for the TES Secondary school of the year award
  • August 2021: Our first set of GCSE results! Students achieve an incredible 24% above the national average for top grades 9-7
  • September 2021: Our Sixth Form opens, with applications from students at 59 other schools. The school roll passes 1000.
  • October 2021: 'Harrow's Heroes' nomination
  • March 2022: Pinner High is the most oversubscribed school in Harrow for the third year in a row. The last distance offered falls to 0.55 of a mile. The waiting list reaches 280.
  • April 2022: Mr. Raj Patel is appointed as the Headteacher of Pinner High School from September 2022.
