Another successful appointment last week, this time to the Spanish team. Language learning brings so much to the cultural life of the school, to the vibrancy and diversity of our community, that I am delighted to have made such a strong appointment. There were almost 40 applicants for our Spanish role, and whilst the school is small my new colleague will teach at Nower Hill as well as Pinner High School. I enjoyed spending the day with the languages team at Nower Hill making the appointment and look forward to that partnership developing even further.
The DT refurbishment plans continue to develop. Choosing the colour scheme for the cupboards, work surfaces and floors made me feel like I was designing my own kitchen, but it was great fun. No surprises for guessing that the fittings are in keeping with the school colours!
I had more meetings with the Harrow Academies Trust catering contractor, and the Education Funding Agency. I also managed to attend my first seminar at the New Schools Network, for schools opening in September. It is a very supportive group, and I left feeling very pleased and a little smug at the pace of our progress! Interviews for the remainder of the teaching posts take place over the coming days, and I look forward to bringing you news of these appointments too.
